the repairman says that a power surge is the cause of the control board being bad. has anyone else had a problem with their control board? the oven can't work without it and if i don't work i can't afford to replace it. anyway to protect against another power sugre from frying the control board?

the only protection against power surges is a surge protector and even that is not a guarantee, contact your local power company and see what they charge for a whole house surge protector,if you have a surge and damage occurs they will then pay for it

I sent my double overn control board to a company called CoreCentric Solutions who refurbish control boards. Their web site lists boards by part # they can handle.

I saved about $200 vs a new board and about $100 vs a retail refurb board.

Good luck...mine was out of commission for four years until I found out boards could be refurbished...one of two ovens worked....funny how the Maytag repairman wasn't interested in telling me refurb was possible.

Good luck
