Just replaced the igniter for the oven on my GE XL44 Model JGBP30BEAeWH. Tested oven, igniter lights no flame comes out of the flame spreader. Tested broiler, same problem, igniter comes on and no flame, stove top works fine. What should I try next??

Quote:igniter lights no flame Is gas being released into the oven burner(s) when the respective ignitor is glowing? Any gas smells? Quote:no flame comes out of the flame spreader. JFYI. Flames should be produced by the oven burner not the flame spreader (which is just a metal plate above the burner). Dan O. www.Appliance411.com The Appliance Information Site=D~~~~~~

Quote:Just replaced the igniter. igniter comes on and no flame. No there is no gas odor. A new ignitor that is glowing (and assumed to be drawing proper amperage since it is new) should allow gas to flow to the burner to be ignited. LINK > Understanding Gas Oven Ignition SystemsEither the oven gas valve is defective and not releasing gas or no gas is getting to that valve for some strange reason. There is nothing I can think of that should block gas flow to just the oven valve without affecting the surface burners too so that possibility is pretty unlikely IMO leaving the oven valve as the prime suspect. LINK > GE JGBP30BEA2WH Oven Gas ValveQuote:Tested broiler, same problem, igniter comes on and no flame It is however unusual (although not totally outside the realm of possibility) that both bake and broil functions of the gas valve failed at the same time (if in fact they did). Alternately, it may be possible that just the bake side of that valve is defective but the broil ignitor is too, preventing that function from operating.
