Where is it sparking?

This must be fixed before anything else.
You have either a partial of a full short circuit somewhere in the unit.

Sparking is at the plug. The range is only item on the circuit and once it was unplugged the the breaker was fine. Plug range back in the breaker will trip immediately. No idea what is overloading, the range is used most everyday.

What could cause the range to suddenly trip the breaker? I've seen there is a thermal fuse or terminal block inthe parts drawings could either of these cause the power to go haywire? Or something else? Pls respond! Thanks so much.

I doubt it would be a fuse.
It sounds like there is a dead short somewhere in the unit re: a bad wire, loose wire, bad element etc.

You said it sparks that should give you a general location of the problem.
Since it is sparking there should be some physical evidence of the problem re: a weld mark.

Make sure to unplug the unit when working on it!!!

Hi again!
Here is a photo of the terminal block! It was toasted in the black wire! There it was welded to the back panel in fact! Ok so I can order a new block, but what about the wires? Should I need a new plug and what about the black wire in the stove?

Pls respond!

Looks to me like you just need a new terminal block.

The crimps and wires look OK.
I wish there was some evidence as to why it failed.
I can tell you that a poor connection is a resistance and as current passes through it heat will be generated. This further degrades the connecton so more heat and so on and so on till the connection fails.

I would undo the wires and carefully inspect the connectors and crimps.
If they are discolored or pitted clean them up till you get a nice clean copper with some fine sandpaper or emery cloth.

In stall the new terminal strip and then turn on the oven and then a couple stove top elements to see if any heat is generated at the terminal strip.
Probably a good idea to have someone at the breaker so they can flip it off in case of a problem.

If OK let her run for half an hour or so and then check it.

Thanks for the help, Denman, the terminal block is installed, tested and working. So happy to have saved the expensive service call.
