The oven temperature probe (aka oven sensor)

UserPostedImage

is located inside the oven and its' wires go through the back wall.

Pull the range out, remove the rear control panel cover and the range rear cover an you'll gain access to all wires. Locate the probe wires and trace them to the control board.

- The part number for the oven temperature probe is AP3704441

- The part number for the EOC is AP3770108

Gene,
I too am having problems with our Kenmore Electric Range (Model# 790.96124401) with the F10 error code (and it got really hot). I was able to get the part numbers for the temperature probe and EOC from your Live Chat support (which was great).

Part Numbers:
Temp Probe:
AP3969435
EOC: AP4508427

However, we turned off the breakers when it happened and I just turned them back on to test the oven again to see if it would throw the F10 error code. This time, we turned on 'Bake' for 420 degrees. We then checked it in the middle of 'PreHeating' and to our surprise, the 'Broiler' was on instead the 'Baking' elements.:( Any ideas? Does this sound like the EOC is bad?

Also, is there a wire diagram available for this model? I have no idea where the temp probe or EOC is located at (unless it's about the same as the previous model you discussed above).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Aaron

Aaron,

Most likely the problem is a bad EOC aka a clock/timer. It's shown as #20 on the diagram. It is recommended to replace it together with the overlay because it's glued to the clock.

- The overlay Part number: AP3769323
Part number: AP3769323

The EOC Part number: AP4508427
Part number: AP4508427
is correct part number.

Here is the wiring diagram.

Gene,
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly and for the wiring diagram. I was afraid it would probably be the EOC, but I'll see if I can check it out.

P.S. Thanks for the additional part numbers, too.

Hi Gene,
I was able to pull the stove out this weekend and check things out. I chec
ked things out based on some earlier comments on this same thread. I took off the wire connectors on the EOC for the temp probe, etc. I took a meter and check pins 12 & 13 and got a resistance of 1680-1700 Ohms. I then took the connector off the oven temp probe and got 1060-1080 Ohms. So from this, I can assume there is too much resistance at the EOC, hence it needs to be replaced. Would you agree with that assumption?

-Aaron

P.S.
The EOC part at Appliance Parts is 'Out of Stock', so I called around some local dealers and they too said the part is back ordered from their parts distributer. So I'll continue to see if I can track down an EOC.

If I got it clear, then you measured the temperature probe resistance at the plug which plugs into the EOC and such reading means there is a problem with the probe wire harness or (most likely) the probe harness plug at the probe.
