Default Loud pop sound from oven
Model Number: JBP70B0K1BB   Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
I turned the broiler on, after about 30 seconds it made a loud "pop" sound. I saw a spark fall down from the broiler element. I looks now like a dime sized piece of the broiler element is missing. Neither the broiler, or bottom element are working now. What do you think? Can I fix this myself be installing a new element or is it something worse? Thanks.

Cool Broil element blew out

Just a defective broil element shouldn't affect operation of the bake element unless it also blew a house fuse/breaker when it went (in which case the surface elements wouldn't be able to heat at full power, if at all, either).

LINK > GE JBP70B0K1BB Broil Element

If the surface elements ARE still working properly, the fuses/breakers are OK in which case the element failure could have damaged the oven control system which on your model looks to be an electronic control.

LINK > GE JBP70B0K1BB Electronic Control

There's a slim chance the bake element is also just burnt out but that would be a r-e-a-l coincidence.

Can I fix this myself
That remains to be seen. If you can determine the cause(s), it might be a good indicator of whether you can repair it yourself or not.

Default thanks

stove burners still work, the "pop" did not trigger the breakers, but the bake element is in fact not working. it must have affected the control panel. i'm calling in the pros. thanks for the feedback, very helpful.
