Unhappy Burner on KitchenAid KECC507 Electric Cooktop not heating
Model Number: KECC507   Brand: Kitchen Aid   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Hello - The front left burner on our KitchenAid KECC507 electric glass cooktop has stopped heating up when turned on. The 'Power' indicator light does come on when the control knob is turned to the on positions for any of the three burner sizes - single, double and triple - but there is no heat being produced by the burner. The other three burners on the stove are working correctly; I don't hear the clicking sound with the broken one though like I do with the others when they are turned on.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Could be a faulty burner switch or burner. You would need to troubleshoot it with a multimeter to see if voltage is getting to the burner or not.

Default Just replaced a GE triple burner

I just replaced a triple burner on a GE glass cooktop stove where the center section of the burner did not work. I am just a homeowner with some degree of handyman skill. It was not a difficult task to troubleshoot and replace the burner since it turned out to be a broken element in the burner which was easy to find with a multimeter and east to spot once I removed the burner. I followed instructions I found in various places because I could not find a service manual. The service manual link given in the previous reply should be all you need.

The very first step is to turn off the circuit breaker feeding the stove. You can troubleshoot the burner without moving the stove. You have to pull the stove out to get to the back of it to troubleshoot the switch. I started with the burner since it was easier.

I did see a post while doing my research that said the switch was the problem more than 50% of the time when a burner did not work.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input Mike - still deciding whether to attempt it ourselves!

Thanks for the reply ApplianceJunk. I'm trying to determine whether this is something I can attempt myself. Do you know if I would be able to get to these parts to test them by unscrewing and removing the top of the cooktop or would I need to get to them through the bottom of the cooktop?

Default What was the problem after all?

Hi Clevelandmom,
Currently, I have the same problem with the front left burner on my KitchenAid KECC507 electric glass cooktop. Just wondering if you ever figured out what the problem was, ie, broken element or burner switch. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Twist - I finally got around to working on this - sorry it's taken me a while to reply. I was able to borrow a multimeter and with some help was able to determine that the burner is getting power. We tested the switch for the front left burner by swapping it with the switch from another burner (it was relatively easy to pull out the wires and plug them back in), turning the circuit breaker back on (a big no-no I'm sure!) and turning the burner on to see if it was heating. It did, so we are going with the theory that it is a bad switch (part #7 on the parts diagram I think), so I'm going to order another one and try replacing it. I'll try to remember to update this when I do. Good luck!

I just replaced the front left burner (the triple one) infinite switch and it's working perfectly now. Was very easy to do once I knew how it all fit together. FYI it was part number 9763765 through appliancepartspros.com - there are a couple different switches, and you want to make sure you get the one that is for the triple burner.
