Model Number: JGBPOGEV2WH Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
I put 5-10 years for the age as I have no idea how old this is. It is a GE XL44, at least that is what the front of it says. Here is the situation, this is a rental unit and my landlord in his infinite cheapness decided to replace our oven with one of the others he has laying around in storage. The range top works so i am sure he assumed that it works. Problem is that the oven and broiler do not work at all, except for when put in self cleaning mode where the oven portion lights and it heats up then. We can't cook at those temperatures as when you try to turn it down it turns off. There is a red indicator light labeled "OVEN CYCLE" that turns on when the oven is put into cleaning mode but does not light under any other setting configuration. I am at a loss to what it is that may be wrong with it, and while installing this oven, they managed to break a gas line (which had no shutoff at the appliance) and had to wait for the handyman to come and run a new line. I'd really rather fix this problem if i can as opposed to running the risk of them breaking something else and having no gas or water for a few days again, lol. Any and all help is appreciated.

You are absolutely right, the correct model number is JGBP30GEV2WHN and I have not been able to get the top mounted broil part to work as I suspect it is not part of self cleaning mode.
We are having the landlords handyman come by today, if it is electrical he stands a chance of being able to fix it, crossing my fingers. Last edited by dOUBLEbAD : 07-02-2009 at 04:45 AM. |
