We replace the lower element after it blew. Removed the old one, and sent family member down to turn off the breaker. While double checking to make sure it was off, (it wasn't), turned the oven on bake, and a large white/blue spark or pow occurred. Went ahead and put new element it, and it gets red hot. The top element seems only warm, and seemed to stay warmer, even after turned off. Not sure that it is off, because the knob to control oven temperature light stays on continuously, even when bake knob in off position.
Any suggestions on what may have happened? Thanks!

There may be a short in the range's wiring or in that element itself.

That could be due to one of the shorts mentioned above or a short in the control contact for the indicator light... depending on the wiring of that control.
