Recently got a Tappan model TGF336AWE gas stove/oven from my neighbor who put it in his garage (was still working) a year to year and a half ago. Installed it in my kitchen, but oven igniter would glow, but would not kick on/heat up. Talked to local appl. store tech who sold me an Electrolux igniter #5303935066 replacement said igniters should put out 3.0-3.5 amps to kick on gas. Installed igniter exactly as old one. Still have same problem. Stove was really dirty and upon looking at regulator on this site, mine has a spring sticking out of middle, where as picture shows a cap or plug or something. Top burners seem to work ok except for weird groaning noise while operational. Would a thorough cleaning of oven parts do any good, or is missing piece on regulator the culprit?

Sounds like the problem is a missed cap on the gas pressure regulator. This part does not come separate. So, you have to order the whole new regulator.

Thanks so much, I probably would have just been stumped without your input. I had asked my neighbor about the spring sticking out of the regulator when I got the stove, and he said it was supposed to be like that as it was non-adjustable. So much for my drunk know-it-not-all neighbor.
