Default Kitchen Aide Range left front burner failure and electronic odor
Model Number: kesa907pss02   Brand: Kitchen Aid   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

I have a kitchen aide model kesa907pss02 and the left front burner will not go on or hum as the others do. There also seems to be an electronic odor. Is it the element or is there a control that could be keeping the element from lighting or is it the switch? How do I check them? Do I use a VOM? Thanks.

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL KESA907PSS02 30" Slide-In ELECTRIC OVEN CONVECTION | AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is a manual which should help.
Whirlpool KAC-41 KA M-Line Slide-In Freestanding Electric Range Service Manual - ApplianceDigest.com

See the attachment for the tech sheet.

Unplug he unit and check the element with your VOM using resistance.
Each element should be around 45 ohms.
If it checks out OK and looks OK, I would replace the infinite switch.

I cannot explain the electrical smell so check for any signs of overheating with the wires in the circuit to this element.

Default New Problem same KA range Breaker trip error code F1 E0

So we put the infinity switch in and the tops works great. Four days later the range (convection bake temp set at 400) pop is heard and trips the breaker and clock shows 0100. According to manual it says error code F1 E0 Internal error replace display board. However, after power up unit is now working fine, coming up to temperature 400 degrees. Does this make sense? Going to need the oven, range for Christmas Eve gathering. Concerned about it failing in middle of preparation. Could it have been a fluke failure of the something? Maybe a power spike?? Any thoughts? Do we need to be safe then sorry and replace th display board? Really appreciate the help very much. You have been such a big help already. Regards.

Will not just be a fluke as you heard a pop.
This was probably an electrical short somewhere in the unit it created a spike which messed up the control board.

Unplug it and open it then try to find out where it shorted.
Since there was a pop there should be a arc mark or some soot.

I cannot say how reliable the unit is but I doubt the control board is the cause it is just a symptom.
