Have a problem:
The electric spark igniters on my stove go on sparking every few minutes, even though the gas is turned off.
Is this potentially dangerous?

Quote:sparking every few minutes You mean the clicking goes on for a while, then stops and then some time later starts clicking again?? Or maybe you mean just a single click every few minutes?? Quote:Is this potentially dangerous? Without gas there is nothing to combust so explosion is unlikely. It might shock someone though. I don't know how dangerous that would be. Quote:yes even when all gas burners are turned off. The spark module should not function (ie. click) without power. Power should not be switched to the spark module until at least one burner is turned on. When turned on and power is sent to the spark module the regular rapid clicking should occur. When turned ON, do the burners spark normally? I don't know what would cause the spark module to click so infrequently and when OFF. Maybe a defective spark module or maybe a short in the range somewhere allowing limited voltage to get to the spark module even when turned off. Quote:i just want to know if this is something that can be dangerous Until the actual cause is known that is impossible to say. Just intermittent sparking at the burner shouldn't cause any life threatening situations but a short in the range's wiring could possibly.
