Model Number: 665.95781000 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
Greetings all,
I'm sure hoping someone can help me with this. I have a Kenmore Electric Range about 8 yrs old that's oven is malfunctioning. The stove top and clock/panel seem to be working fine. We had a power surge to the home about a week ago...Since then I went to preheat the oven to 350, the panel said ON and HEAT but when I opened the oven it was luke warm inside. As far as I can tell both elements are working. The oven keeps "clicking" as if it thinks it's at the right temp and shut's the heat off. Thinking it may be a dirty sensor I put the oven in self clean mode. Again, it warms up and the elements get red hot for a moment then it shuts off and turns back on 10-15 min later to do the same thing. Needless to say, it's not nearly getting to the right temp for the self cleaning mode. I can't even get the control panel to say "PREHEAT" unless you put the oven temp to over 410-450... So, question is....Replace a fuse? The thermostat? The control board?? I'm not sure if the power surge we had has anything to do with it, seeing that I didn't go to use the oven till days after, but I wouldn't rule it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! One thing you can try is to disconnect power from the appliance for a minute or two to see if the control resets its operation. It is really just a hope and a prayer though. Here is a tech sheet
https://www.servicematters.com/docs/...%208272851.pdf Try the recall last error code. You may want to check the sensor. Here is a good site with basic oven repair help. http://www.applianceaid.com/elecrange.html See #7

Dang power failure!! Unfortunately, I already tried unplugging it for a few minutes (as that's my solution to everything) but that didn't help it out.
Thanks for the tech sheet Denman! Hmmm, I recalled that last error code and it reads EO -FO- which if I'm reading right would indicate no failure. I'll pass all this over to the hubby. Thanks guys!! |

Dan O,
Hubby went to the parts appliance store, they told him he needed a clock control (around $90). Is this the electronic control your talking about? Sorry, I couldn't open the link you supplied. Would it be part #8273122? Again, thanks for your help! |

Thanks for your help!!!
We ended up buying the electronic control panel as you and the parts store suggested and the oven is fixed and back to normal! It cost us about $100 for the part but it was an easy D.I.Y. fix and beats purchasing a new stove! Thanks!! |

I have the same problem on my Kenmore 66572029100. The parts list on searspartsdirect offers two part numbers for the control panel (8272735 and 8273918) but since both are 30" long I'm guessing that is just the fascia. There is also an expensive "range control" part number 8523666 that appears to mount behind the "control panel".
I checked for an error code but there was only E1 -F5- (door lock) I assume from another problem (door stuck post cleaning). The software rev is 08 9364. Assuming my unit's problem is the same "clock unit" as the original poster, which of these items if any do you suspect is the right one for me to try replacing first? Thanks much, Brion Orange California |
