Default Kenmore oven not working
Model Number: c968-66090-4   Brand: Kenmore   Age: More than 10 years

We have an old Kenmore oven (I'm not sure of the exact age) that has stopped working. The top elements still work but when you turn the knob to turn on the oven, nothing happens neither of the elements (top or bottom) inside the oven work. I took the back off to check if there was something obvious that would explain this and one of the wires has burnt through. The wire goes from 'L2' on the box at the back of the knob that turns on the oven to a clear plastic thing at the top of the oven (photo attached). Is this why the oven is not working and, if so, is it easy to repair? Thanks.

Wow, a classic

L2 is a power lead. Replace the burnt wire. Get 2 quarter inch female hi-temp resistant terminals and some 14 gauge hi-temp wire. That should do it, unless the switch itself is bad.

I'm not sure if RadioShack carries hi-temp terminals and wire. We carry both the terminals and wire but I don't remember part numbers off hand. Contact our parts department on Wednesday and they'll find it for you.

Hope this helps.
