It's double wall unit with convection on top. Set it to clean cycle (only 3rd time in 6 years) and after 2 hours it went dead. No breaker tripped. We're thinking the thermostat part? Also, other part websites have different part numbers for, what appears the same thing. Is that common?

Quote:Model Number: KEBS207DBL __ There should be one or more numbers at the very end of the model number. Can you please double check it? Quote:after 2 hours it went dead. What ' went dead' exactly? The control and everything or just stopped heating? Quote:No breaker tripped. Did you try resetting them anyway? Breakers can sometimes open without physically tripping their levers. Flipping them off then on again might reset them in such a case. Quote:other part websites have different numbers for, what appears the same thing. Is that common? Yes it is. Many web sites display their own SKU numbers and not actual part numbers. JFYI Dan O. www.Appliance411.com The Appliance Information Site=D~~~~~~

Pulled out oven; no number after KEBS207DBL and not on our receipt! Re-tried breaker, still nothing lights on control panel and oven is locked. If I ever get this thing going, it will be the last time it's cleaned! Think it's the control panel fuse or the thermal to the upper convection oven? Really appreciate your insight. :)

Quote:no number after KEBS207DBL And you're getting that number off the model and serial number identification tag on the front of the appliance? (That tag won't be on the back and hopefully not behind the locked door either.) LINK > Model Number Tag Location GuideQuote:and not on our receipt! I wouldn't expect it to be there, just the basic model which would be printed on the appliance's carton. The complete model number will usually only be found in the appliance's model and serial number identification tag. Quote:Re-tried breaker, still nothing lights on control panel There's still a chance that power is not getting to the appliance. Has anyone confirmed that at the appliance's main terminal block or wall outlet? Quote:Think it's the control panel fuse or the thermal to the upper convection oven? Possibly. I looked up a model KEBS207DBL 1 and it has a thermal fuse that if open would stop all power to the control panel. LINK > KitchenAid KEBS207DBL1 Thermal Fuse Quote:If I ever get this thing going, it will be the last time it's cleaned! If the fuse is open, the proper course of action would usually be to try to determine the cause of the failure and correct it. Fuses and protectors are safety devices. When they fail it is often a sign of a problem that needs looking into not just replacing the failed safety. JMO Dan O. www.Appliance411.com The Appliance Information Site =D~~~~~~

Thanks Dan. We did get the control panel working (figured out the fuse install). Oven runs; But, there is no heat. Just because so many posts suggested the thermostat for the oven could be blown, we did order one. Unfortunately, the number on the "old" fuse is different and discontinued. would you know if #4450934 supports a convection upper oven as the old (current) fuse#4452223? The one we ordered "looks" the same. The suggested fuse substitute does not; it has a "shield" over it? PS: we did check the old fuse and the ohms do not read, so we know it's bad.

Just to add my 2 cents...
There is a last digit missing in the posted model number which is very important to find the correct part numbers. Whirlpool made 10 different models in this series and there are at least two different kind of the safety thermostats (thermal fuses) used. You can find the complete model number on the right side of the upper oven door frame.

How do I get the door unlocked? Mine died during cleaning and the screws that hold it in the cabinet are behind the locked door. Thanks, Jim
