Default unable to burn
Model Number: PRG304S3   Brand: Thermador   Age: 5 - 10 years

The burners have never worked well on this range. We have paid $500 twice to have potentiometers, igniters, switches and controls replaced which would bring it back to it's original, poor operation.
Currently, the left rear "simmer control" burner doesn't light, the right front regular burner barely has a flame and the rear right is about 2/3 flame.
When I swap pots, the solenoid to the dead burner clicks, the igniter sparks but it still doesn't light.
Dealer says the potentiometers are no longer available and the regular burners are not adjustable.
Any suggestions?

everything is STILL available for this range ... everything from the electrodes to the potentiometers to the spark modules and simmer controller ... BOSCH which now owns TDor has changed the potentiometers ... relatively easy to diagnose problems, just time consuming.. most often when the sequential burners (XLO) burners dont work ( NO GAS ) usually a potentiometer problem .. Need to check voltage to the solenoid valve ( UNDERNEATH the burners ) .. need to remove hex head venturi ( unscrew it ) and lift up black pressed steel pans (plates) ... post s# for better info ..

Default Thanks, but...

I mentioned your reply to the dealer and he said "Oh yeah, you can get the pots but only in a kit with the igniter". Does that sound right to you? Do the pots and igniter have to be replaced together? I have been unable to loosen the hex venturis, is there a trick? Also, do you know where the SN is located on this model? And lastly, do you have any wisdom about the unadjustable valves?
Thanks!

kit with potentiometers comes with simmer control .. ( need to remove two phillips screws and remove toe kick to get to m# / s# tag... ) the venturis often get stuck into the jet holders .. may need to drill them out with a large pyramid shaped bit inorder to remove the top flange of the venturi.. replacing simmer control should get gas coming out of burners that do not work and as far as the flame ( prior svc tech may have replaced orifices mistakenly and changed diameter reducing gas flow ? ) is this nat gas or LP ?
