Unhappy Double Oven Control Issues
Model Number: JTP56WWW   Brand: GE   Age: More than 10 years

Original problem with this double oven was that every button on the control pad that was depressed, would display a 6 in the display. All the buttons on the control pad were functioning as advertised with an audible beep. Just could not use any of the bake features as a result of all those 6's in the display. Broil both high and low functioned correctly. Contacted GE. They told me to change the oven control board. I ordered and subsequently recieved an oven control from appliance parts pro. Installed unit, plugged in per instructions. None of the buttons on the keypad work other than the clear button. I get an F7 code when I unplug the ribbon cable. I can clear that by depressing clear. Could someone please give me some insight on this problem. My wife is talking about a new oven which we can't afford.

The problem with your oven is a stuck one or more pads on the key pad.

In order to fix it the control panel has to be replaced.

Post the color of the control panel and the missing digit between W's in the model number and I will find the right part number for the control panel.

Gene.

The color of the control panel is white and the number between the W's is 1.

With the old control board, I could depress every button on the keypad and I would get an audible beep and the number 6 on the display. Every subsequent key that I depressed on the keypad would also beep and another 6 would be displayed. This sequence continued until the display was filled with 3 6's. Not a good sign!! Now all that is displayed is the clock of which I cannot change.
Is it possible that the original problem was the control panel and not the oven control board? Or is the existing control panel/keypad not capatible with the new control board?

I believe the original problem was the control panel.

- The part number for the control panel is AP2029423

Good luck.
Gene.
