Oven Repair (including Ranges and Cooktops)

Last night when I turned on the oven it started to heat, but stopped. It never did stop pre-heating. We replaced the heating element about a year ago. Is there a way to know if I need another heating element or if there is something else wrong? This is not a good time of year to have the oven not working. Also, is changing the oven door hinge a difficult job? We need that too. Your help is greatly appreciated.
