Model Number: JSP40ww4ww Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
the 8" burner: I turn it to hi works fine when I turn it to low it will go low then it glows more frequenty than need, sometimes stays on Hi. I have replcaced the control element behind the knob, problem still exists, I have purchased a new heater element which I have not replaced yet. Is there another element which control all the burner, I am noticing simmilar problem on all the burners glowing more frequentlyt even when is set on low? Thanks, Kaz

Each burner operates with the infinite switch (#19 on the diagram) on the control panel. The heating element has a limiter which controls the element and the top glass temperature and turns off the power to the element to prevent possible damage to the glass panel. Thats why cycling "on" and "off" for those elements is normal. As long as you are able to set a needed burner temperature there is nothing to worry about.
Gene.

Thanks Gene, I know that is normal. I use to steam rice on # 2 setting for 40 minutes for years and and know if I set it on #2 the rice will burn after 15 minutes eventhough I have changed #19 in diagram.
Thanks, Kaz |
