Model Number: JDS26GOP1AD Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years
We are trying to fix a G.E. Drop In Oven, Model number JDS26GOP1AD, Serial number MG373D27Q. We have already bought the lower heating element and it will get red but doesn't stay red. It will cool off too quickly. It says that it is at the requested temperature but it isn't. Would the part that we need be the Oven Sensor Assembly?

Yes the sensor is a good bet
Here is a good site with basic oven repair info http://www.applianceaid.com/elecrange.html Check out # 7 & 8 Note that a poor connection can also do this re: the sensor's resistance is directly proportional to the temp so if a bad connection adds resistance to the circuit the control board thinks the oven is hotter than it actually is.
