Model Number: W305 Brand: Dacor Age: More than 10 years
My oven has been slow to preheat.I noticed if I jiggle the bake heating element it heats up like it used to.I looked up a replacement part which appears to be an adaptation of the original plug in ceramic type element. The part description states "hard wired." How does this mate with the old female connection to the oven?

Paul,
Dacor has redesigned the Bake element and eliminated the ceramic terminal block. You have to get rid of the terminal block and install a regular push on wire terminals to connect the new type of the heating element. - The part number for the Bake element is AP3160603 Gene.

Last night I installed the baking element per the instructions.
I slipped the shrink wrap over the connectors and did not heat them up since there was no reference to do that. To test per instructions I moved the element up and down and got a POP. Does this mean I ruined the element by shorting it out? I will take it back out tonight and see what I can find. Should I have shrunk the wrap? Was there something missing? Paul Just pulled heating element and found a burn through the shrink wrap on the left connectors. Looked at connector and found it fried thru. I am not sure why it grounded, the shrink wrap was still covering the connectors. Is this the end of the element? ....Paul Last edited by paulchil : 06-05-2009 at 11:05 AM.
