The oven will not hold the set temperature. There is some play in the temp selector of 50 degrees on the scale. Is this a thermostat problem or some other control on the oven?

Thanks Gene. The knobs set screws are solid and remain tight, however the post of the thermostat does have play in it of about 50 degrees. Jim

Jim,
Does the thermostat stem play itself or inside the knob? If it does it itself then the thermostat has to be replaced. Otherwise replace the knob.
Gene.
