Model Number: RBS305PDB16 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
After the self cleaning cycle heating elements does not heat. However, the panel works (clock, timer) Husband perform continuity check on elements an the result was positive for continuity. Also tested resistance of thermostat reading was well within range. Is there any other test that has to be performed to determine where the problem is? Also what part is needed to fix the problem?

Most likely the problem is a bad (open) thermal fuse on the back of the oven (#37 on the diagram).
- The part number for the thermal fuse is AP3885687 Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL RBS305PDB16 | AppliancePartsPros.com Gene.

Element does not glow red at all no matter it is preheat, bake or whatever. i have switched the range breaker off/on. Found this article as a possible repair: http://forum.doityourself.com/kitche...-cleaning.html
I have not tried all suggestions. Wanted to post issue here. Current status: I have oven pulled out of cabinet and ready to dive in! Thank you |

rescue_dog01, are you the original poster?
If not you should start a new message of your own with your symptoms/questions and be sure to include the appliance's model number to enable us to look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with. JMO Dan O. www.Appliance411.com The Appliance Information Site =D~~~~~~ |

I was having the same problem with by RBS305PDB16 after using the self-cleaning cycle for the first time. Also besides not heating, the temperature up button would not function in any mode nor the Cancel Button (had to flip fuse.), oven light button (light works though), or timer. I replaced the thermal fuse tonight with the part you stated. Now when I hit the bake button, it will preheat to 350 degrees (some progress) Is this all typically part of the same problem/cause or is it multiple problems? Any suggestions? (in reference to Dan O's note above, I will start a new topic if needed; but that was one of my symptoms and my model so I thought this was on-topic.) Chuck |

Hi Chuck,
Sounds like the key panel has gone bad. The correction is to replace the control panel. If you need the correct part number then post the color of it. Gene.

I wished someone had warned me about using that dang self-clean feature. This is a great and helpful forum. |

You are welcome. Unfortunately this is probably the most common problem for those ovens.
Keep us posted. Gene.
