My oven is a GE Electric cooktop, probably about 10 years old. I have not been able to locate a model number in any of the places GE mentions on their website.
A couple days ago, when I was using one of the burners, the element shorted, causing a huge bang and fireball, pretty similar to what is described here:

The element was completely melted through on the bottom.
Today, I replaced all the elements, as well as the receptacle on the problem burner. The other three burners work fine, but the shorted one does not, and my biggest concern is that the surface burner light stays on when no burners are on. There is no heat to the burners just the light. Do you think something shorted out part of the control circuit, and if so, is there something I can do to fix it? If not, is the oven safe to use? I am about a year away from a kitchen remodel that will include converting to gas, so I would like to try to keep this one functional if at all possible.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
