I have an Amana gas stove and the oven has stopped working. I would like to attempt to trouble shoot the problem and try to repair it. I've checked the burner in the oven and the glow bar igniter is working there is just no fuel coming through to ignite. Any ideas on what the problem might be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The igniter can be bad even if it glows if it's too weak to open the gas valve. In order to provide more accurate advice we need the complete model number of the range.

Kurt Gene, Sorry, my mistake. That was the model #, not serial # as I stated. Model#AGS781WW. Kurt

If you would like to make sure the igniter is bad then measure the current drawn by the igniter, if you have a proper meter. It suppose to be more than 3.2 Amps. If you can not do it then just replace the igniter because the problem most likely is there. - The part number for the igniter is AP2934763Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for AMANA AGS781WW | AppliancePartsPros.comGene.

Hi Gene,
Thank you for your advice. I don't have meter to read the amps, so I am ordering the igniter as you suggest. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again for your time & help.
Best regards,
Kurt

Hi Gene, I printed the diagrams, and was wondering if while I'm waiting for the part, could you tell me the best way to approach this? Should I go in through the top, or the back? Any info would be very helpful.
Thank you in advance,
Kurt

Kurt,
You have to remove the oven floor and the flame spreader. The new igniter comes without the mounting bracket, so you have to use the bracket from the old igniter. Be very careful because the coil is very fragile.
