Model Number: KGCC566RBL01 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: Less than 1 year
A recent plumbing malfunction upstairs messed up our new stove. I found the parts here, although the parts list (both here, and at Kitchen Aid did not show the ignitors). Here is the parts list:
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL KGCC566RBB01 | AppliancePartsPros.com I replaced the following parts: AP3592411 Wiring Harness AP4364883 Spark Module When I replaced the damaged parts, it worked fine (the problem was fixed). However, there seemed to be a new problem. The ignitors, which I thought were supposed to light the gas at the tip of the ignitor, all seemed to be arcing from the bottom of the ignitor, where the spade plug connection was. Here is the part in question: Part Details - WHIRLPOOL Spark electrode, part number: AP3175678 I thought the spark was supposed to light the gas from the tip (the right side in the picture-under the letter "c"). Instead, it was arcing from the plug connector (the left side of the picture-under the letter "n"). Figuring that this was NOT where the arc was supposed to be, I insulated all the bases with shrink wrap. This stopped the arcing. It also stopped most of them from lighting. My question , after this lengthy preamble, is: Are these SUPPOSED to arc from the bottom? Is that the way these are supposed to light the burners? Did I mess this up by insulating these? Is there something else I should know about this? Any help would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks. Ads By Google Related Models Last edited by stratmaster : 05-13-2009 at 05:36 PM. Reason: Grammer |
