Model Number: JSP38GV1BB Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years
Okay, so I replaced the switch on the burner that seemed faulty (cycling on/off too frequently) where it took over an hour to boil a 12qt. pot of cold water. Boiling time hasn't changed, even though the burner now glows for 13 seconds at a time rather than the 4 seconds previously. Am using the electric ceramic cooktop's left-rear burner(can be set to 2 different sizes) on the large and Hi settings. The covered pot boils in about 60 mins. When I remove the lid, the water ceases to boil and another 30 mins is needed for the uncovered pot to boil. Once I put some pasta in, it stiops boiling again. Think it's time for a whole new unit? If so, what's a recommendation for a good 30" slide-in electric range/cooktop? Thanks.
