I have a Maytag mer6875aas oven and my top oven is heating up hotter than what I set the temperature for. I put two thermometers in and set at 375 and the temp in the back of the oven was 450 and 425 at the front. I also noticed that the broil burner was coming on during the preheat. What could be causing this?

Check the oven sensor.
Here is a good link, see items 7, 8, 20 and 21

If the sensor is OK then odds are the control board is the problem.

You may be able to get it at least closer to set point by calibrating the oven, see your operators manual. Usually you can get up to +35 to -35 degrees of offset.
