Default oven repair
Model Number: w130   Brand: Jenn-Air   Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a jenn air built electric oven that has been cooking unevenly. I recently used the broiler and noticed the element was only heated on the left side. Does the heating elements have resistance reading? Does both the top and bottom elements get hot when you use the oven?

The broil heating element on your oven has two coils.

Turn the oven circuit breaker off, remove the broil heating element and check for burned out wire(s).

The both heating elements should have the resistance reading, but I can not tell the exact numbers.

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Jenn Air oven Model W130

I have same oven, with same problem. Just replaced the broiler element with a new one (the old element had no continuity on the right side). The new element has continuity on both sides, but only the left side is heating When it is in Broil mode. Have noted that there are 3 hot wires going to the screw connector on the right side. Is this a temp control unit problem? Any suggestions?

dbond,

Does the indicator light go "on" when Broil is "on"?

What happens when Bake is "on"?

Gene.
