oven not working

Oven was in use at correct temp, when suddenly a pop and then smoke from the electric oven control area in center of panel. Digital readout is still working and showing whatever temp you select, but it only gives a clicking sound when trying to turn it on. Could this be a EOC or can it be a relay or switch in EOC?

Cannot say you will have to open it up and take a look.
Since there was a pop and smoke odds are there will be some evidence of what blew.

You have to join the site to download the manual but it is free and this is a very good site for manuals and other info for the appliance repair DIYer.

Be sure to unplug the unit before working on it, 240 volts is very, very dangerous.
