Hello Gene or Anyone that can help!!

I have a Frididaire PFEF373 model that recently had the lower element go completely "dead". I have already checked the element and it passes the VOM tests, normal readings. I have also replaced the Oven temp sensor as a shot in the dark...I guess I like to spend money. Without doing the proper testing.

BUT, I have two questions that I hope someone can help me answer:
1) Does this now sound like a Timer/Clock control board?

2) What the heck is the Starter used for in an electric oven? It is item #6 in the BackGuard diagram? I can not seem to find an explaination for this component ANYWHERE. I must be a super N00b.

Thanks for your help everyone, I have a preganant wife that is NOT very happy right now. So please help me!!!

Regards,
Jason
