can anyone tell me step by step how to install a new dual element (sears part # 316464900) ? i know how to raise the stove top, but want to know what to do next. is this a hard repair or just unplugging & re-plugging the wires on the new part? thanks

Once you tilt the top back you may need to unplug two plugs and unscrew the ground wire to give you enough slack to give you room to tilt it back far enough. The burners are held in place with a bracket which goes from one side to the other. One for the front and one for the back.you may can replace it by just taking one end of the bracket loose, if not both of them. There are springs holding tension on the burners. Don't take the springs off you just compress the spring and remove the end cap to get the burner out. The insulating material on the burners is delicate and will crack. Be careful with it. Here's your diagram. http://c.********************************.com/lis_pn...9102-00003.png
These instructions are from memory from when I did mine. yours may be slightly different. Once you look at it you can figure it out. It's not hard. I've done it two or three times. |

thanks for your quick reply, woodchuckie. i lifted the top & see the bracket held by 2 screws. i'm not sure what you meant by tension springs tho'... but , it looks like there are two plugs, one for the smaller element & one for the larger double element. do i just unplug/disconnect both, remove the old element, secure the new element & re-plug?
