Our GE gas stove has the burners working but not the oven. I just replaced the igniter on the bottom but it still does not work. Even if the igniter does not work should I be hearing/smelling the gas? I was wondering if the gas regulator could be bad? Any assistance would be appreciated.

You will not smell or hear gas unless the igniter is working because the gas valve will not open unless the igniter draws a certain amount of current. If the igniter is not coming on the gas valve may be bad. The igniter feeds through the gas valve so if the valve is open the igniter won’t come on. Using an ohmmeter check for continuity through the valve, if its open replace it. If not the main control board may not be sending power down to the gas valve. Gas Oven Repair Guide
