Model Number: RGB508PEH3WH Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
My oven is not working and I want to know if the part # WB19k31 is the correct one to get so that the flame will return oven burner. The burner igniter is stilling glowing red when turned on but then when the flame went out on the oven burner I could smelled gas leaking. But now the gas is not coming out of the oven burner and the burner will not re-light. So is that the right part needed to re-light the oven burner?

Most likely the problem is a bad igniter, not the gas valve.
- The part number for the oven igniter is AP2020569 Here are the break down diagrams and Replacement parts for GE RGB508PEH3WH | AppliancePartsPros.com Gene.

Hi Gene,
Thank for the info, but I have another question. The burner igniter is glowing more of a white- yellowish color when the thermostat is turned up but it's only glowing on the very tip of the igniter. Is that normal or should the hold element be glowing also? I read on your website that if the igniter is glowing yellow or white it's ok, so I'm confused and I don't want them to change the wrong part. Which I ordered both the burner igniter and gas valve safety to be on the safe side. So your input is very valuable and much needed. Thanks again, Jbee51 Last edited by jbee51 : 04-08-2009 at 01:01 PM. |

In order to be confident you have to measure the current drawn by the igniter. If the reading is 3.2 Amps or less than the igniter is the culprit. No doubt about it.
The best tool to do it is a clamp-on meter. They are not cheap and if you can borrow one from you friends - it will solve the problem. You can use a regular meter too. In that case you have to connect the probes in series with the igniter. If you can not do it then start with the new igniter. Gene.
