I recently bought a home (April 2011) built in 1967 which contains a wall oven. Thw wall oven worked perfectly until about 1 week ago. It gets warm inside but not hot  . I turned it off and tried to use it again and left it on for several hours (oops I forgot that I left it on) and discoved that it was very hot..not sure if it was the correct temp, or if it took several hours to get to that temp. I love the oven (it reminds me of my grandmother) and would hate to replace it .Any ideas?

I could not find any info on this unit so the following may not be applicable.

Check that both the broil element and the bake elements work.
Many units use both elements either all the time or switching back and forth during preheat so it would take longer to heat up if one of them is burned out.

If you cannot tell by looking at them or if one of them will not come on.
Remove power from the unit.
Undo the screw/s holding the element to the back of the oven.
Gently pull the element into the oven.
Disconnect one wire from the element and then measure across it with a meter.
Most elements should be about 20 ohms.

It is a good idea to clip something (clothespin etc.) to the wires so they do not disappear into the back of the unit before you can reconnect them.

Note: It is very important to remove power from the oven as many units still have one side of the line (120 volts) at one side of the element even when the element is turned off.
