Exclamation Oven Turns On All By Itself!!!
Model Number: JGBS23BEA2WH   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello, I Have A Possessed Stove. I Have A 2nd Hand Stove And When The Electric/gas Were Connected, The Oven Energized The Ignighter, The Gas Valve Opened And The Over Burner Ignited And Began To Run Although The Knob Was In The "off" Position. I Was Able To Turn It Off By Turning The Knob On/off, Listening To The "clicks" Of The Microswitch In The Knob Assembly. The Oven Will Energize Quit Regularly And Will Heat For A Bit And Then Turn Itself Off WHILE THE OVEN KNOW IS IN THE "OFF" POSITION. It Is Obviously A Problem. I'm Looking For Suggestions. I Don't Know If It Is The Thermastate Assebly Or The Gas Valve Or Something Else. I Thank U For Ur Support.

Most likely the problem is a bad thermostat and to fix it the thermostat has to be replaced.

- The part number for the oven thermostat AP2623073

- Here are the break down diagrams for the GE range Model JGBS23BEA2WH

Gene.
