Model Number: JHPG0Y Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years
Hi everyone,
I was looking for a guide to open a GE hi-low range control panel to replace the oven selector switch (Bake, Broil, Clean, etc.) which is number 82 on the attached diagram. The reason I believe it is the switch is because the oven bake element works when the oven is on broil, but not when it is set to bake. The control area has three screws on the top and 3 on the bottom of the cover face plate, but are difficult to get at due to other pieces. I understand electronics very well, but when it comes to taking apart things, I am the guy who always end up with leftover screws and bolts because I took way to many things apart. This thing is 30 years old and I can't get any help from GE's legacy support other than the User manual and the attached exploded diagram. Any tips or directions would be greatly appreciated. I would also buy a repair manual if one exists. Thanks, Bill Ads By Google Related Models Last edited by Bill@ClemJanesInc : 08-04-2011 at 12:00 PM. |

Here is a picture of the controls area for the hi-low range. The small red arrows point to where the screws are but they seem to be blocked from getting as screwdriver straight onto them by the pieces above and below them. The large red arrow points to the knob for the switch I plan to replace.
