when testing the start switch on the two blue wires should i have ohm reading before depressing theswitch

No.
They should be the start relay's contacts. Be sure that you have disconnected at least one side of the switch/device you are measuring as this prevents you from reading an alternate/parallel circuit path. The pink/black to the blue that goes to the motor should have continuity as this is the relay's windings.
