Model Number: GMC305PRS01 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
The blower on my Whirlpool oven (microwave over single oven) is noisy. I know the replacement item number, but can I replace it myself as a fairly handy DIY'er? Could I just unplug the darn thing and do without? Is there a service manual available that would help me? Thanks.

If you unplug the power to the blower motor, you'll run the risk of damaging the control printed circuit board, and other somewhat delicate parts. Your best bet is to replace it. Part number: AP3882906 It's a project that most DIY'rs can do, the hardest part is getting to the fan motor. I think this will help you out,: Disconnect the electrical power to the double oven. Open the lower oven door. Remove the bottom screw from each of the two side trim pieces. To remove the side trim, pull the bottom out approximately 2˝, and slide the top down to free it from the control panel. Remove the four double oven cabinet mounting screws (2 on each side), and pull the oven out of its mounting location so that you can access the back. To remove the lower blower motor assembly: Remove the upper rear cover and the lower rear cover (8 screws). Disconnect the two wires from the lower blower motor terminals. Remove the three air duct screws and the four mounting screws. Good Luck,
