My four burner Thermador RDDS30 has a very weird igniter behavior. When I turn on a burner, all igniters continue to spark until I turn on the corresponding burner on the opposite side. If I light the left front burner (XLO), all igniters spark until I light the right front burner. As long as both are burning, no sparking. If the XLO shuts of the gas and the flame goes out, the igniters will spark until the flame returns.

I have replaced the control module to no avail. Any ideas/similar issue resolved?

Isn't this the way it always works. I ask for help after struggling for too long. Then I go back to the problem and notice something I had failed to notice.

Previously the sparking behavior varied a lot and I swapped out a extra old 4 igniter box I had from a previous professional repair/warantee work. That did not fix the issue so I reinstalled the 6 igniter box. The behavior changed, but the problem was still there. After more reading on this sight, the symptoms seemed to indicate a control module problem. I replaced the control module and then had this weird "paired" sparking problem.

I posted the question and returned to the stove to make sure all of the grounding looked good. While working through that, I was looking at the igniter wiring and wondered why the sequencing seemed illogical. I then started tracing control module wires to the knobs. Ah ha! I notice that the numbering was very sequencial. #1 is the LEFT front and #4 is the right front. I had swapped 1 and 4, 3 and 2. So when one of the pair ignited the opposite of the pair had to be on to sense the flame. I swapped the igniter wires and now they all work as expected.

Boy do I feel stupid. I masked a fix with a simple connector swap.

I guess it makes another symptom-fix pair that can save someone else time in the future. Even mistakes are of value to the site.
