My top oven no longer self cleans, the bottom one still does.
When I press the buttons for self clean the display shows the cycle starting, but the fan does not run and the motorized latch does not move to lock the door. After a minute or so the display reverts back to its normal mode when the oven is off.

I thought it might be the lock, but since the fan doesn't run I'm thinking the problem must be elsewhere.

I have in the past replaced the main circuit board and the display when it dimmed.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim Lloyd

Do you have the old control board?
If so you could put it in and try the clean mode.

Does the oven that does not self clean still heat when you try to bake with it?

I don't have the old control board (good idea though.) The oven does heat and other than the self cleaning operates normally.

Thanks for your reply and interest.

Reply to my own post.

Although I had done this before, I cut off the oven at the circuit breaker for several hours. I did this because the bottom oven stopped heating. Then switched it back on. Rebooting so to speak.

Voila, both problems fixed!

I doubt that I'd ever buy Thermador again; just too much trouble.
