Oven bake element stopped heating (when I looked it was melted) Replaced it, new element, but still no heat. Broiler element and cooktop elements work fine. Ohmeter to element shows about 15.5 ohms. And BTW, when removing the old element, thought I could just pull it out from front, with range plugged in. Nice short, but all the lights and stuuf still seem to work, except bake element. Any help?
thanks

Model number above is incorrect it is mer5875ran

When your accidentally shorted the heating element you blew the heating relay assembly apart internally.

Is this the part Part Number: AP398230 Part Details - MAYTAG Relay Assembly, part number: AP398230

It says part not available, and when I google part number, I get nothing?
But thanks for figuring it out, now if you can find me a part....

No, the part you list is for a dishwasher.

Here are your stove parts
Replacement parts for MAYTAG MER5875RAN RANGE- F/S STD ELE | AppliancePartsPros.com

The part you may need is the control board (Panel-BKGD Item 1 in Section 3).
Call them to confirm this is the correct part an not just the overlay.

There is a possibility that you blew the thermal switch (Item 29 in Section 1).
See the attachment for the tech sheet.
If this is open, it will kill power to both the bake and broil elements.
But I would check it anyway as it would not be the first time that a company changes how they wire a unit and not bother to update the technical info.
Unplug the unit and one side of the thermal switch and measure it, it should be 0 ohms.
Note: If you click on the part's picture you will get more views of it. You will see a square red item on the back of it, this is usually a reset button so if it is popped out just push it back in.
