Model Number: JGBP30WEA8WW Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
For the past half year or so we have noticed our gas oven taking longer and longer to heat up with the food taking twice as long or longer to cook at what we set the temperature to. Tonight set the oven to 400F and it took over an hour for the oven to reach the preheat temperature setting. I looked through the bottom panel holes and never could see the burner flames. Did some investigating.....took the bottom panel off, turned on the oven, igniter turned a bright yellow orange. Waited about 4 or 5 minutes but the burners never lit and there was no gas smell coming from the burners. After looking through several similar posts I'm wondering if the igniter is failing and needs to be replaced even though it is glowing. Is that the most likely source of my problem? TIA.
