We bought a Kenmore Elite oven/range in 8/05 from sears. It is a ceramic cooktop with a convection oven. The appliance worked fine until Dec. 08 when we had to have a heating element replaced on our burner that is adjustable to 3 sizes. 3 days ago, I was using the range and realized that the middle part of the burner would not turn off. The Sears tech told me (without even seeing it) that it is the control board and has nothing to do with the heat element and therefore would cost us an additional $300.00 to fix (on top of the $375.00 we just paid to replace the heat element). Can anyone please tell me if this is correct or is Sears jerking me around????? Also, can anyone recommend a good place to buy appliances? We've always gone to Sears because of the service but in the last few years, I have been very disappointed in them.
