I need to replace the stoves smoothtop, is it easy or should I have a tech do it? If I can do it how do I open the cook top and get to the screws. Is there any hidden thing I need to know about?

I have the same problem same model.appreciate your reply and links. The top is cracked but the elements all seem to work. Would you recommend replacing the elements at the same time I replace the glass top, the range is only a year old? Finally Maytag part number I have is 74011063 is this correct?
Thank you for your help.

No, if they all operate OK there is no reason to replace them

Yes this is the same as AppliancePartsPros number AP4099981

Denman,
I really appreciate the reply and info. In todays ecomony I'm learning, at age 67, to do a lot more DIY repairs.
