What is the easiest way to remove the 2 screws which attach the ignitor

Normally with a Phillips screwdriver. Sometimes due to excessive heat those screws are "welded" to the metal bracket. If force alone isn't enough, you can try a product called Rust Buster or you can simply drill the screws out with a power screwdriver or a small drill.
