The bake element on our Kenmore range won't completly shut off. There is a little glow in the back corner and it continues to stay warm. We unplugged because we were afraid of fire. Does this mean the element needs to be replaced?

Pull the Bake heating element out, disconnect the wires, check the element for continuity and check for continuity between each terminal and the body of the element. Post the results.

Gene.
