I had the same problem with the same oven. The solution was to provide some insulation in the control wires. The procedure was developed by Charlie Popeck and is described at

eyecu1965dad,

"F10" error code means runaway temperature. Check resistance of the oven temperature probe (aka temperature sensor). Normally it suppose to be about 1100 Ohms at the room temperature.

If the reading is wrong then replace the sensor.

If the reading is correct then replace the Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

- The part number for the oven temperature sensor is AP3704441

- The part number for the EOC is AP3778770

I have a Tappan range, error code F10 (not on the list). What does this mean? Easy to fix? Costly?

Range, Maytag; MN CRE9600CCE;
Just replaced bottom oven element. It works fine, but will not turn off. Oven overheats and I am getting a F2 code and then an F7 code. Cancel button or oven stop button will not turn oven element off. Must unplug to turn off. Clock and other buttons as well as temp display seem to work OK. Oven stop button does turn temp display off.

HELP

eastex,

The problem with your oven is a relay on the control board stuck closed. The control board has to be replaced.

- The part number for the control board is AP4008548

Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag range Model CRE9600CCE

Thanks Gene. I suspected that was the problem, and chose to replace the range since it was 12 years old and probably not worth the cost of repair.

Thanks for the reply and the info.
