my right front burner would not shut off so I turned the gas off on the gas line to the stove. I replaced the valve with part# ap4041810 and now the burner will light and shut off , but it will go out when I try to turn it to low.It woprks find on high and med. What could be the problem?

On the burner valve that you replaced, there is an adjustment. The nut, I believe is a 3/8s or a 7/16s. It is close to the body of the burner valve. Turn the burner on to medium low, and then put your wrench on the screw and turn it, either way, and see if the flame gets higer or lower. If it gets higher adjust higher, and then put it to low, and see if it stays. Let me know how it goes. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

kayakcrzy, I looked at the valve and there is only a brass end going out toward the burner. This has a 1/2" nut end on it so I did as you said with the flame and I turned the nut both directions and it did not effect the flame. There are no other adjustments on the valve. It looks identical to the old valve, but when I get 1/4 of the way from med. toward low the flame goes out.

i would imagine that you did not mess with the air mixture. so, i have a feeling you have the wrong part. if you are looking at the stove, the far left burner on the selector console is part # 12002294, it is a 5k burner. the one to the right of it is a part # 31983802, and is a 9.7k burner, the next burner to right of it is the same part# and is also a 9.7k burner. and the burner switch farthest to the right is part # 31985101, and it is a 12k burner. i don't know what burner was the one you replaced, so these are the part #s for all of them. let me know if you got the right or wrong part. tom applianceeducator.com - parts

It was the far right burner as you face the stove, and the part # on the bag was WPL31985101 so I think that is right. I was thinking the same thing about it being the wrong part.
