Default Oven oesn't bake/heat and displays a "FS" error message
Model Number: J SP26BOW2AD   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

Aloha from Hawaii!

It looked brand new from the begining, little did we know it doesn't work. Everytime I turn the oven on either bake or broil after 1 minute a "FS" message is displayed on the control panel. The oven doesn't heat up at all. If anyone knows what this means I would highly appreciate it.

Please HELP.

Much Mahalo,
John G

John,

Are you sure the code reads FS? Maybe F5 or F3? Please double check and let us know.

Yes it is F5. What does that mean? Thanks.

Disregard last post because I saw the F5 error code already. The ERC is the problem. Wonder how hard is it to replace. Much Mahalo again.

I am having the F 3 code flash. All I did was replace the ignitor on the broil burner. It just involved connecting the two wires. What could I have done to cause this problem?

John,

Control is number 16 on this diagram.

It's usually pretty simple to replace. The wiring might be slightly different, but the new board should come with instructions.

reifnote - post your oven model number. Codes vary depending on brand and model. F3 usually stands for a problem with the oven sensor.
