Model Number: JES9900B Brand: Jenn-Air Age: 1 - 5 years
I never thought I'd become a recurring poster here but I should know owning this Jenn-Air range that I guess I should setup shop here.
I have a fairly new Jenn-Air, electric glass cooktop range (JES9900B). The button/display panel on the front has slowly gone to toast. First a few buttons became unresponsive, then a few more on each side of the display. Now only one button works, which has rendered the thing useless. Can I take the display apart clean the connections and get it working again? Do I need a new panel? Where would I order this from? Thanks so much. This forum is a wonderful resource. Here is the parts breakdown.
Replacement parts for JES9900B models | AppliancePartsPros.com Can I take the display apart clean the connections and get it working again? You could try, definitely worth it. See the following Connector Cleaning / Checking Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. Do I need a new panel? Cannot say. It is sort of a crap shoot as to whether it is the control panel or the control board. With luck the cleaning will fix it or you will see a problem with the ribbon cable. I will try to get some tech info on this unit. Where would I order this from? Parts are available from AppliancePartsPros who sponsor this site. Also see their return policy
